awww, man!

So, I’ve quit the pirating life in trade of downloading off of iTunes. Being that I now have a long drive to get to work in the morning, I’ve been downloading new CD’s before I leave so I have something to listen to on the drive up and back. Last week it was Alicia Keys’ new CD (pretty good, btw). This morning I decided to give Ruben from American Idol a try.

it’s horrible. There’s a couple good songs, but it just doesn’t sound like “him”. It sounds like stuff R. Kelly should be doing. The thing I wanna hear about is sweat drippin’ down Ruben’s body. Sweat drippin’ from Ruben’s body isn’t from great sex - it’s just a natural occurance (standing up, sittin’ down, breathing in AND out). The boy can sang, the songs just weren’t right for his voice. The arrangements on the slow songs sounded more like cheesy christmas carols. The remakes were aight (For All We Know by Donny Hathaway and How Can You Mend a Broken Heart by the BeeGees), but other than that I want my money back. I should have listened to the 30 second iTunes samples, but I woke up late. I think I’ll download Kelis tomorrow. Or Missy. And maybe even Clay (::shock, horror::). I like that “Invisible” song, although it’s kinda creepy that he wishes he was invisible so he could watch her in her room. Other than that… Ruben, I’m disappointed. I hope it was the record company makin’ you do alla that, and maybe your next album will sound more like you.

Yup, it had to be the record company. Just trying to cash in on the American Idol cow. Hopefully, if he puts out another cd, he’ll have more say so over it or better producers.
