The Friday Four #38: Gabe Takeover - Travel For Work Edition

Another takeover by Gabe. Enjoy.

since i will be leaving for yet another cold terrible place on sunday i thought i would ask you all, my esteemed brethren about your work travels, good and bad:

1. Where was your best work travel destination, and since it was sooo great did you actually do any work?

2. Worst? Why?

3. Ever pull the “out of town” hook up, only to never talk to the man/woman/boy/girl/pre-op tranny ever again?

4. Most expensive expensed meal?

ta da. and there you have it! now if you will excuse me i need to pack to go to illinois tomorrow. ak. barf.

Thanks Gabe. I appreciate you not including anything about killing anyone or prostitutes. Although I guess #3 could encompass some sort of prostitution. dangit.

Happy Friday, my friends. Answer in the comments.

    1. Probably my trip last April - Boston and NYC. Yes, we managed to get *some work done, but since we were there for a conference (photoshop geeks unite!), we weren’t working working.

    2. Been to Vegas a few times, one of those trips was kinda bad… mostly because my flight left at 6AM the next morning, and that’s never a good thing in Vegas.

    3. No……… comment.

    4. Probably Vegas, i don’t know if it was more expensive at Tao or at Bouchon. Probably Bouchon - the food was definitely worth the wrist slap. Ever since then, we now have a per diem. lol

  2. 1. i usually get to go to crappy places, i think china was the most interesting, but man did it work hard.

    2. with out a doubt Juarez MX, the highest per capita murder rate in the americas, i spend the entire time in a factory and when i came back to the states there was no one to stamp my passport or anyone in the border crossing office for that matter, which prompted immigration to penalize me later for not ‘leaving’ mexico. fuckers

    3. i have never done this and dont think i ever will, im not that smooth and usually and very focused on work.

    4. i think once we spent 11 grand on a meal…serious celebration.

    1. Probably my first duty station in Georgia. I worked long hours but had way more days off than Korea. Also, I had really good friends there and had a lot of fun.

    2. Korea - I worked 16 hour days - no lie. From 4:30 a.m. till after 8 p.m.

    3. Sort of but not really.

    4. Not applicable in my case. All my meals were free.

Tallahassee, Florida. We had a hurricane warning right in the middle of one of our meetings. Day two, my team just bummed around in a rental car in Panama City for the day, took in the sun, and went to the beach.

    2. Worst? Why?
Ok, this is an everyday. Winnemucca, Nevada. There is a clothing optional bar - the only people that choose the “optional” part are those that you’d prefer to see clothed.

    3. Ever pull the “out of town” hook up, only to never talk to the man/woman/boy/girl/pre-op tranny ever again? Nope.

    4. Most expensive expensed meal? I think Skadi in Mammoth Lakes, California. I can’t even tell you what I had. Something with some kind of specially prepared steak. Second had to be with my boss in Reno @ Cafe de Thai where our total exceeded $200
