Monday Madness’ Friday Four #40: Financial Uncertainty Edition

12/05/2008

Since Gabe forgot to do the Friday Four on Friday, we’re doing it today, hence Monday Madness’ Friday Four. Here ya go, Gabe’s Monday Friday Four.

lets talk extreme financial uncertainty in this weeks monday madness:

1. how much is TOO much for gas? and when i say too much i mean ” i ain’t drivin, i’m taking the bus, walking or buying a lame hybrid.

2. would you change any other significant areas of spending to enable your self to continue to afford to drive, i.e move to a smaller place, buy that lame hybrid i just burned you for, sell your pure bred German pointer to the gypsies etc…

3. let’s hear your sob story..or you upside-down on your house? can’t afford to buy even though now would be a great time…having to sell your body just to be able to live in a good neighborhood, and by good i mean really gay or almost all white. no exceptions.

4. a lot of companies have been trying to adjust to our economic changes a little late, mostly by eliminating personnel, how secure are you in your jobs longevity?

and that my friends is our depressing first shot and Monday Madness

Thanks Gabe. Answer in the comments, please.

    1. I think $6 is my limit. I would say $5-however that will come before the end of summer and I am not walkin in EconDILDO in 100 degree weather in August. Maybe a trade in will be in order. By that time they maybe on backorder.
    2. I might just make my cell phone for emergencies only. Only have texting available. WOW- did I just say that? I already eat $1.00 a box mac n cheese. I can’t afford fast food as it is. I gave up drinkin. What is a girl to do!
    3. Yeah um. no stories besides my momma’s been helpin me pay my bills for the last year. Oh at least my name is not Dom and I did not strip for my landlord because I couldn’t pay rent. oppps. did I say that?
    4. I don’t like this F’in Monday Four. GABE! You’re Fired. I want the Friday Four back! WTF. I am gonna go take an antidepressant now.

    1. I’d have to say $6 and that’s only because I don’t really have to drive anywhere during the week.

    2. I’d give up my gym membership cause I can workout wherever.

    3. I can’t buy a house yet. But I’m working on that!

    4. I feel somewhate secure since I am self-employed. However, I know things can happen so that is why I’m busting my ass to build my online biz now. Eventually, I will be my only client.

    1. $5. After that we’re carpooling or taking the bus.

    2. I’d move back home with my momma if it really came down to it. ::crosses fingers, knocks on wood::

    3. I couldn’t buy a house, not in San Diego. Maybe in El Centro. Or Murietta.

    4. I’m pretty secure, considering I’ve been here since the beginning so I know how this stuff actually works. Some people don’t know so much.

    1. I think if I have to pay $65 – 70 to fill up my Honda a week, I am done. I think we could argue for telecommuting then. You know its bad when you spend more on gas a month then on the car payment.

    2. Shoot, I am already changing significant areas of life. I got rid of the cable modem for a slower, less expensive DSL connection. I am paying off what bills I can sooner so I can not have it dragging me down each month.

    3. Trying to sell my truck is pretty laughable, but I did.. for 3 months. Couldn’t get anyone to buy it. Possibly because it has a V8. I only ever drive it now and then and the current tank of gas has last me well over a month. Last time I filled it up it cost me $65.

    4. Who knows? I can only hope we are not going anywhere.

o1::the British have been paying 94p a litre for years, with conversion in money and fluid, that’s roughly $7 a gallon, and they still manage. it’s called diesel.
everybody here who says they will stop driving is delusional, America has no pubic transit. New York thinks they do, but apparently Americans have never been to Berlin, London, or Paris to see how real transit systems run. i’d like to see people in LA ride the bus as their main means of transport, that shit is just laughable. the infrastructure is not there, and it would need millions upon millions of dollars and tens of years to fix it to make it respectable.

o2::i’ll buy a hybrid any day of the week. somebody has obviously not been doing their research on just a few of the hybrids that are out there::

o3::i have no sob story. im still paying my bills. i have paid off $1100 toward student loan debts in the last month alone. i dont spend money i dont have, and i dont splurge. try not drinking for a month, see how much money you save.

o4::ive found that working 2-3 part time jobs works around that.

    1. just because the europeans do things dosnt mean its ok, remember the holocaust? remember being ok with having really bad teeth and hairy pits? It will take americans significant time to ajust to rates that may be charged in other countries, it wont work simply because it works somwhere else right now.

and who needs public transport when you have a bike, i can cycle a good 30 miles in a day no problem and live in a community where i can walk to everything. take that lack of public transit

    2. that hybrid is still slow. PWnd
