studio 4: pre-game extravaganza

24/11/2008

We were off to have a night of drunken debauchery. No night of drunken debauchery for Stephanie’s birthday is complete without pre-drinks and pictures at studio4. Happy birthday, Steph!

remember that one time my heart got broken?

19/11/2008

i was just looking through my archives… i tend to do that once a month or so… i think to myself “self, what was I doing this time last year? oh that’s right, i was getting fucked over”

all i can say is that i’m so thankful for my family and friends. so, so, so incredibly thankful.

i feel 100% loved. i don’t know what i’d do without the mommys and tinas and jonathans and mikees and emmas of the world.

if your life is half as blessed with wonderful people as mine is, you’re doin’ pretty good.

/end sappy shit

november hasn’t been so good to me.

sky’s nose

17/11/2008

i seriously love this dog. even her wet little nose. but she farts. like… lactose-intolerant-holly-just-drank-a-gallon-of-milk farts. you can’t help but laugh at the thought of a smell that foul coming out of a dog, but after 3 or 5 or 7 it just starts to get old.

exceptionally big.

14/11/2008

my hair is exceptionally big today, which is why i made sure to wrangle that shit up and tie it back… mikee always says “comb out your hair so i can see how big it is”, so I took it out and showed him. showed emma too. she insisted on taking pictures so we can share the big hot mess that is my hair with the rest of the world. so, world, here’s my hair, in all of its tangled nappy goodness.

i am history.

Never has waking up on a Wednesday morning been sooo sweet. I was dog tired after work yesterday, almost canceled my plans with Chantal to watch the results at the bar by my house. I got home, tried to take a small nap, but when Pennsylvania started turning blue I just couldn’t go to sleep. Then Ohio. Then “meet me at the bar in an hour” turned into “i’m already here, are you here yet? hurry up!” Two beers and two jager-obamas later (yeah, we renamed them… ’cause yes, we can do that), we had President-Elect Barack Obama.

i am history. i lived and breathed this historical moment in time. in my lifetime. these are the moments we live for, the stories we tell our children and our children’s children with the fondness and emotion that only “being there” can produce. there’s still a long road ahead of us, and President Obama has a lot to live up to, but drink this moment in. you are living in an epic time, living in an epic moment.

maxwell = half man, half amazing

4/11/2008

Words cannot describe the sheer joy I felt when this man stepped on stage and started singing to me (yeah, to me). Tina and I went to the San Diego House of Blues to see my future baby daddy… we had an okay dinner (Tina had cold potatoes, boo) and stood in line for HOURS… because I’m that serious. About 3 minutes before he came on, I (and everyone around us, for that matter) didn’t even care who came on stage, as long as someone came out with a mic. Gary Coleman could have come out and done a jig, we didn’t care, we just didn’t want to wait anymore. And when he finally came out, it was worth every single agonizing minute. But um… where was Jazmine Sullivan? I’m pretty sure my ticket paid for her too. And yes, I was THAT close to him… the iPhone camera don’t zoom, son. And yes, he totally touched my hand, which I promptly licked (i kid, i kid… )

I’m happy. Stupidly deliriously ridiculously happy. Now we just gotta get Obama to win this thing tonight.

Vote.

12 years I’ve waited for this one night.

I’ll stand front row and wait for everything to go black, and all I’ll see and hear is Maxwell.

No On Prop 8 Candlelight Rally

3/11/2008

In protest of The Call’s rally at Qualcomm Saturday day, No On Prop 8 supporters took to the streets of Hillcrest at night with Mayor Jerry Sanders and his daugther for a candlelight rally. I met up there with Chantal and Peter to take it all in. Initially they were expecting 1000 people… turns out 6000 showed up. Seeing it in pictures is never the same as experiencing it first hand… but hopefully these will help you understand how powerful the message is.

The many faces of No On Prop 8:

stand up for what’s right.
